Back to Germany

I haven't quite finished showing you all my holiday photos yet.  Hope you don't mind me showing you this mosaic that I made of some of the other things we saw and did during our last week's stay in Germany:

It's the first time I have used the free mosaic builder at BigHugeLabs.com and I have to say it was very easy.  The only problem I find with these mosaics is because they use square format they can cut off parts of your photos that you don't want them to - for example the giant teddy's head on photo 25.  I still like the idea of a compilation mosaic though, as they are great for putting a themed collection together.

Today I also finished off that picture that I started the other day, the Radiohead video inspired one.  I added some blue & white soft pastel over the newspaper type:

.and I ironed both of the robots that I had downloaded a while back (see this previous post) onto my son's t-shirt (this is just one of them, my son is wearing the other)

...and here's proof that my younger son was happy to wear a couple of the badges that I made yesterday :-) :

Tucherland

Our last day in Germany and we spent it in yet ANOTHER children's theme park.  This one was 'knight's-themed' and called 'Ritterturnier Schloss Thurn':

The weather changed dramatically whilst we were there.  No sooner had we covered ourselves in suncream, than we found ourselves running for cover after getting drenched in the rain from a massive thunder storm.

Still, despite the weather, lots of fun was again had by all and loads more photos were taken.  (I also got to march off with a hunky 'Sheriff' during a Wild West Performance :-O.....but that's another story...)

Back to the theme park we went to yesterday called 'Tucherland', the indoor play centre with the lake and beach:

One of our favourite activities was table tennis:

We're not very good but we got in lots of practice!

(It's empty because we got there early!)

Outside, I liked this child friendly warning sign:

No idea what the words say, but you could make a guess.

My sons couldn't get enough of some more water play:

I have to say thank goodness for an english speaking European SatNav - it has been EXTREMELY useful this holiday!

Museum and Shopping

(Apologies for this blog being all about our family holiday at the moment, normal crafting service will resume shortly...)

At last! A lovely sunny day here in Germany.

Taken today! Look at that blue sky! :-)

Today we went to another child's fun park called Tucherland which was an Indoor Play Centre.  It also had a small lake and man-made beach outside.

We weren't allowed to take photos of the main exhibition at the Toy Museum yesterday but there were stunning exhibits.  Really old teddy bears, dolls and doll's houses as well as some superbly crafted wooden toys.  I did, however, take this one in the case of toys from the 1970s:

and this one from 1945:

..which weren't part of the main exhibition.

Afterwards, we went to the local shopping mall.

Gotta take a photo or ten!

We have had heavy rain all day again today. Can hardly believe its August!  This picture was taken from the window of where we went today, a Toy Museum in Nuremberg:

Before I show you the Playmobil Fun Park from the past two days, I thought some of you might like to see this 'Illusion Barbie' that was in the Museum:

What a great outfit and hair!...and is that a mask? ;-)

I was telling you yesterday how great Playmobil Fun Park is and here are some (loads!) of pics to show you why.

We have a quarry:

..with moveable gizmos for quarrying the soft 'stone' balls up and down.

Plus a Supervisor:

A fabulous gigantic Pirate Ship (like the one my son has in toy size)

...for climbing all over - and posing near the figurehead:

So make sure you bring wet clothes and a towel:

PS - I did get a little craft shopping done today, they've got some fabulous stationery shops here in Germany (drool!)

Guten Tag! Hello from Germany

Well, we made it yesterday, after first flying to Zurich, Switzerland. We had to change aeroplanes there to get to where we are now which is Nuremberg, Germany.

This is called ‘The Beautiful Fountain’ and it is situated in the Market Square here in Nuremberg. I’ve just been reading in the Guide Book that there is a gold ring detail on it that you are meant to turn to give you good luck and a ‘horde’ of children! (I think 2 are enough, thanks!)

The weather isn’t all that great here, it keeps changing from bright sun to rain showers. It looked nice and sunny when we left. How is it where you are?

There is also some interesting architecture in this City. Here are some examples:

There are also some great cafes – but the tea is too flavoured for my taste, I like and miss my PG Tips!
