Happy 11th Birthday

...today to my eldest son, Ryan.  His age will always be easy to remember as he was born in the year 2000.

I made him an old fashioned card as he loves steam trains:

...using a Create-a -Scene stamp set which I got from a charity shop for 50p!

I had to mount it on Kling-On backing first:

..and the photo corners I had were black so I coloured them gold using

..a moulding type paste you apply with a sponge. Rich!

I drew a gold line frame around the image using my Promarker Gold pen and used my Versafine Sepia inkpad to stamp the scene onto a brown paper bag.

And here he was this morning, before school, opening his pressies:

I got him a few jokey pressies like the long haired wig (centre) because he told me he doesn't want his hair cut anymore, he wants to grow it long! lol.  I also gave him the jokey cockerel nose.

He is very into Lego

..so I was pleased to get this Lego wrapping paper from M&S.  He was so delighted with it he tried his best not to rip it when opening up his pressies.

Crafty Artisan Purchases

I bought loads of Tim Holtz and Ranger products when I went to the Artisan Bead & Stamping Show today.  What an adventure that was too (more to follow).   I mainly got 'Show Specials' (3 for £10, etc)  to keep the cost down.

I won't tell you how much it all came to (my husband reads this!),  but where possible I paid less than the price of buying online. 

I also got these Tim Holtz/Ranger too:

Excuse the mess, I'm exhausted! After walking around the show for most of the day, it was home time. A friend of mine had given me a lift in the morning but wasn't able to give me a lift back. I contemplated getting a taxi but the people running the show assured me there was a bus coming in 10 minutes from outside.  I get out the show and a bus just comes passed me - grrr!  I then had to walk in pouring rain up a hill in the country - with no pavements, very wet grass and laden with my crafty goodies up to the next bus stop.  I got absolutely drenched!  Ooh, I suffered for my crafting obsession today!  40 very wet minutes later I finally got on the bus, but I still had to continue on a 15 minute, soggy walk home.  I obviously should have got the taxi, in hindsight (what a marvellous thing!) but, as always, I was trying to save a bit of money. Ah, well!

I've just got one other thing. It's my sister's birthday today so I made her this:

Happy Birthday Banners

Today I'm exhausted!  I was up until the early hours of this morning preparing for my elder son's 10th birthday, and  a good part of it was spent making these enormous banners! 

And thats what today's craft is in case you were wondering, great BIG banners! 

I made this one to go above the sofa:

and this one went above the fireplace:

To make these I simply drew the letters with a thick Sharpie marker pen (they really are good!)  freehand onto lots of different coloured papers, cut them out and  then stuck them onto the banner paper. (These  white paper banners were from our local 99p shop).  To get each letter the right size I measured it up against the ones I'd already done. 

For my son's birthday he said that he wanted money towards an expensive Lego Star Wars model  but because the weather has been so awful  recently I haven't ventured out as far as a cashpoint.  So what did I find myself doing in the middle of the night last night?  I was forging money on my home printer!!  I found an image of a £10 note on the internet and duplicated it lots of times.  I felt like a right criminal cutting up all the individual notes on my pink crafting guillotine!  It worked a treat though and gave him something to hold in his hand other than an IOU! lol (there's no back on them so there's no danger of him trying to spend them!):

For his birthday tea his grandparents came and treated us to a meal at Pizza Hut!
