Christmas Fridge Magnets

As you know, I am 'christmasifying' (!) my house bit by bit, room by room, well tonight it was the turn of the dishwasher!  We are great fans of The Simpsons so to go with our other homemade Simpsons fridge magnets, I have made some christmas versions.

These started out as tags (from Poundland £1 for 36!) and I simply stuck them onto sticky magnetic paper.

I also made some other child friendly designs from magazine cuttings:

With all this freezing weather, both my boys have become unwell and today they had the day off school.  Before they became ill though, I managed to take a few pictures of the frost on some local trees.  Its so photogenic - but also verrry, verrry c-c-c-old!

Waste Not...

Today I have made something using the waste from another craft I did (shines my Green halo!).   Regular readers may remember the Simpsons Fridge Magnets I made a couple of months ago.  Well, when I cut around them off the A4 magnetic paper there was some waste magnetic paper left over.  I actually kept that and used it to make these:

Admitedly, the drawings weren't made by me, they were from a children's colouring book.  I coloured in the pictures with bright highlighting pens, stuck them onto the scrap magnetic paper and cut around each one.   The boring brown filing cabinet that I have put them on to (he,he) is part of a 3 drawer cabinet that came with our house when we bought it.  The brown is FAR to dull a colour to be in our household of big kids so I've livened it up with these bright magnets.  I'm sure the little kids will like them when they see them tomorrow!

The second drawer of the filing cabinet was already embellished:

My sons are into Arts Week at school this week and the subject is 'The Caribbean'.  I'm going in to help tomorrow, wonder what we will be doing? (Sings, 'Oh, I'm going to Barbados..')

England Flag Magnet

Thank you for all your messages of support yesterday everybody, really appreciate you are  there supporting me.  It really helps to know I have 'fans' ;-)

I have just done a simple craft tonight because I watched the final of  'Britain's Got Talent'.  Quite impressed with the winning gymnastic group but would quite have liked the two boys who came second to win.

For my craft, I have made an England fridge magnet, in preparation for the World Cup:

I cut chipboard to size, painted it with white acrylic paint and then stuck on some thin sellotape for the red stripes.  On the sellotape I poured on some red glitter embossing powder and heated it. I was considering putting some white glitter on the white bits but haven't done so yet. Not sure about that?  A simple magnet was stuck on the back.

As you can see, we have quite a few magnets on our fridge!:

Neither of my boys (or my husband) are into football in our house, but I'm sure we will get caught up in the fever that is the World Cup.  Everybody will be talking about it and flags will be everywhere, there will be no avoiding it.  My brothers are into football and they are visiting us tomorrow along with my sister and her little boy, it will be great to catch up, we haven't all got together for nearly 2 years.  Luckily I won't have to cook, we are going to 'Frankie and  Bennys.'

Simpson's Fridge Magnets

Sorry crafters but tonight's craft isn't an inspirational one, its a 'qwiksave indulges her kids' craft.  In fact, it could hardly be classified as a craft at all, because all I have done is produce some Simpson's fridge magnets:

I have loads of different types of papers for using in inkjet printers that I have had for yonks and  been meaning to do something with some day.  I have Magnetic Paper, Self Adhesive Plain Paper, T-shirt transfer papers for light and dark fabrics, Fantastic Plastic, Shrinkable Plastic, Various sized Sticker papers, Ceramic mug transfer paper and even some Mouse Mat Paper (phew!)  So I thought I ought to start using it! (lol)  Which is why I made some Simpson's fridge magnets tonight: 

Think my sons are going to be overjoyed when they see them tomorrow! 

I must admit we have had lots of magnetic characters on our fridge, washing machine and dishwasher over the years.  I think the first ones we had were the Teletubbies (sigh!)  As you replace them each time it makes you realise that it is (yet) another sign that your kids are growing up.
