Finished Anniversary Canvas

It's Saturday lunchtime and  I thought I'd pop on here before I go to my inlaws to show you the finished Anniversary canvas:

I added some vintage buttons, gold scroll peeloffs for the corners, pearl gems and some gold paint for the edging.  I covered it all in 3 layers of Modge Podge.

My childen have been trying to work out which relative the people on the picture are. Some look so different (well it has been 50 years!) that we will need to ask.

50th Anniversary Canvas

Thanks for dropping by. My inlaws' 50th Anniversary canvas is very nearly ready now, I just need to add a few finishing touches.

I decided to make the background like old wallpaper, to fit in with the decor of their house.  This one is a Laura Ashley scrapbook paper.

It's very understated though and I wouldn't say Laura Ashley was my style but when giving gifts I think its important to consider the receipient(s).

I liked adding the butterflies which were punched using a Docrafts 3d butterfly punch using an old book:

I will be adding bling (as in sparkly studs) to their bodies and to make antenae.

The use of decorative photo corners compliment the old style feel of the canvas.

Just to say, I will be having the weekend off from blogging (& crafting!) as I am going to be at my inlaws for their celebration party and they don't have internet access! :-O

Golden Wedding Souvenir

I'm in the process of making a Golden Wedding Anniversary framed canvas picture and this isn't it!:

That might sound a bit odd, but the photo in the middle is the one I'm using - its the wedding of my inlaws taken in 1960 - but the frame and embellishment you see here is just a 'sample collage' I got from Picnik, which I'm not all that keen on.  I'm trying to do my own canvas montage, but my printer is playing up and has produced white stripes on the printout of my photo, grrr!

I also made this Picnik digital collage using a close-up picture of them too:

(Which is another one that I won't be using).

I love looking at old pictures, seeing how people looked so different to now, and these two, now in their 70's, look pretty different to how they did then.

We're going to their Anniversary party on Sunday, so I'm going to have to get this pesky printer problem fixed pretty sharpish!
