Father's Day Photography

Shhhhh!  Don't tell my husband but I've been hunting out photos that I took of him with our two boys as a present for Father's Day.

Awww! A sleeping together shot.

A funny one! Joshua's turn to push his Dad!

..and a lovely shot of him when he first became a dad!

Just three of the many shots I'll put together, possibly in a scrapbook format, for Father's Day this year.  Don't panic, Father's Day (in the UK) isn't until June 19th.

Let It Snow - Photographs

Today my craft is photography.
Colourful umbrellas make great photos in snow!
We had masses of snow today - we woke up to loads and then it kept on coming for most of the day.
Luckily I've done most of my christmas shopping, but I did have to pop out (walking) with my boys to the supermarket.  They loved it of course and were snowball fighting all the way.

This was in our neighbour's garden:
..and this is the robin that my son made at school:
It looks like a giant robin is coming down our path! :-O

The snow is so lovely to look at, but it has its problems.  My husband has been stuck in Germany this weekend because his flight was cancelled :-(  He's hoping to come back on Wednesday now, fingers crossed.

Christmas Fridge Magnets

As you know, I am 'christmasifying' (!) my house bit by bit, room by room, well tonight it was the turn of the dishwasher!  We are great fans of The Simpsons so to go with our other homemade Simpsons fridge magnets, I have made some christmas versions.
These started out as tags (from Poundland £1 for 36!) and I simply stuck them onto sticky magnetic paper.

I also made some other child friendly designs from magazine cuttings:
(But think I may need to trim these a little more...)

With all this freezing weather, both my boys have become unwell and today they had the day off school.  Before they became ill though, I managed to take a few pictures of the frost on some local trees.  Its so photogenic - but also verrry, verrry c-c-c-old!

Germany in Autumn

My husband has returned from working in Germany for the weekend and has brought back some lovely scenic photos for me to show you.  I thought you might like to see these calm, peaceful, river & mountain scenes that he has been taking, inbetween his working hours.

Also some woodland:
Makes me feel all calm looking at these.

He came back this morning and took our boys around a very busy, Movie Memorabilia show at the NEC in Birmingham.  There were people dressed up as Star Wars characters:
With whom they had their picture taken:
Me? I went to another exhibition there at the NEC, a Gifts For Christmas show, it was heaving with people and I only got a couple of things, one of which was some washable fabric pens.  Once a crafter, always a crafter!  ;-)

Back later with today's craft,

Same scene 39 years Later!!

I very rarely ever enter any challenges on other blogs, but when I saw the subject of this one I knew I had just the right thing.  It took a lot of hunting through boxes and discs but eventually I found these two photos which I would like to enter into the Sticky Fingers Week 35 Challenge The Gallery: Before and After.

We were asked to recreate a photo we already had.  I chose this one taken in, ahem, 1966. That's me on the left, with my sister sitting down on the right:

It's not strictly the same people sitting there in this picture, as these are my two sons at the same age as my sister and I were.  This was taken in 2005, and we got as near to the same spot as we could on the beach.  The beach is Tenby in South Wales.

It was fun doing this challenge and may I do many more of them!

:-)

Autumn Park

We had a lovely day here today, fantastic blue sky, sun shining, the perfect day to go to the Park, which is what we did.  We went to the Leamington Spa park called 'Jephson Gardens' that has some lovely variety of trees which are still showing their beautiful autumnal colours.  Now, if Blogger will let me, I will show you some lots of the pictures taken today.
(Click each picture to enlarge)
Don't ask me what any of these type of trees are, because I have no idea!  I took these pictures inbetween playing Frisbee with my family and we also had a nice hot drink in the Avairy cafe there too. A lovely day out.

Fabulous Dubai

This is a photo of an incredible waterfall in a shopping mall in Dubai:

I love those diving figures!

My husband sent me some photos that he took on his last trip on the way back to China.  Apparently his first flight to Dubai was late so he missed his connecting flight to China and had to spend a night in Dubai.
He was able to take a little trip around the sites and took a few photos that I would like to share:
The World's Tallest Building

Another shopping mall -
with a giant aquarium that goes through all the floors...
..with sharks in it!
This is a 'posh' hotel called the Burj Al Arab..
...and this is a 12 lane motorway :-O!:
* * * * *
I also did a little photo manipulation myself today, I found out about a program on the web that you can change ordinary scenes like this (taken at Playmobil Fun Park in Germany):
into a model village:
using a program called tilt-shift.  Clever huh?

One more, also taken at Playmobil Fun Park:
From this:

What fun!

Fancy Dress

Today's post is a photographic one.  Today my boys had 'Dressing Up' Day in the garden, until rain stopped play. I was going to put some outfits on myself  (honest!) but some of the outfits got damp in the garden when we came in for lunch and it rained - so I you have been spared that spectacle!

This one of my oldest has had a little bit of Picnik treatment:
Picnik, for those of you that are new to my blog and don't know I use it a lot, is a free photo manipulation program that you can do lots of cool effects with (you can also subscribe for even more effects).

Both my boys liked the 'Stephanie from Lazy Town' wig! (um, mine!)

These are of my youngest:
..and these are of my oldest - in lots of different wigs!:
We do seem to have acquired a lot of fancy dress stuff over the years as we do like to go to town at parties!  (Not that we go to many!) But you can't beat a bit of silliness now and again, can you?
* * *

My husband is coming back from China tomorrow and we are all going to Germany on Monday for 9 days.  Today I got my boys learning about where it is (remember? lol) and a bit about the Country.  I got a book from the library:
We even learned about some of its history:

..and some german language. We now know 'Please' (Bitte), 'Thank You' (Danke) and 'Chocolate' (Shokolade).
Also, 'Hello' (Guten Tag) and 'Goodbye' (Auf Wiedersehen).

We will be going to Playmobil Land which looks fun on the videos on youtube.  I will of course be taking lots of photos, some of which I'll show you on here.  I may be able to do it whilst we are away, depending on the quality of internet access.

Thanks for reading,
See you tomorrow,
