Clay Embellishments & Beads

Inspired by my son making his 'Morph' video the other day, (which, incidently, he would like you to see when its complete!) I got out my self drying clay and some moulds that I'd been given and made myself some embellishments for cards and scrapbooking pages:

They still need some edge refinements but this is how they are looking, so far.

A few years ago my mother-in-law used to do a class in icing cakes and as she no longer wishes to do so again, thought I might like all her equipment.  She must have spent a fortune originally, so fortunately for me, I don't have to.
This is just a small selection of what she gave me.  They will be fun to use for my clay modelling.  I can make some beads and the holly leaves will make great christmas decorations.

I'm leaving the clay to dry out overnight and will paint them, possibly tomorrow sometime.
I've added holes in some of the decorations to make jewellery and scratched details onto the holly leaves and teddy with a scalpel.

I'm thinking they will look pretty good, once they've got a bit of paint and varnish on.

Thanks for looking and for any comments,
See you tomorrow,

Time Jewellery

For tonight's craft I decided to change some jewellery I got in a sale a while ago.
It needs a few finishing touches but here it is so far.

To make it I used:
First of all I drew around the circle shape of the necklace (2 for 75p!) and then used the foam tool to ink the circles with distress ink.  I then stamped the clock face on top.  I cut it out and stuck it onto the jewellery.  As my handcutting wasn't very circular, I used a file from the Basic Grey Filing Kit (not shown) to round off all the edges.  I plan to add some gold around the edge before varnishing it with Diamond Glaze:
If I like it I will wear it as a necklace (I spotted one in town with a clock design) instead of this chain setup.

Hope you have a good weekend. We had a bit of good news yesterday, my eldest son was elected to be Year 6's school councillor!  Well done to him.

Thanks for stopping by and for any comments,

Graffiti Bracelet

I've just finished watching the Eurovision Song Contest and oh dear! We came last!  I've had a fun evening though on MSE discussing the contest, having a laugh.  The German girl that won had a very strange voice, it seemed to be a mix of Cockney/Australian and American, most odd, and I must admit I was surprised she won.  I liked the Ireland song most but that didn't get many points either.

For my craft I had a go at making a bracelet out of that acrylic abstract painting I made a couple of days ago.
(Apologies for the strange coloured shadow)

I bought an elasticated wooden bracelet from a charity shop (for 50p!) that had eight wooden panels all the way around it.  I drew around each of  the panels onto my painting and cut them out.
I just used the red, yellow and black parts of the picture and stuck them onto the panels. I particularly focussed on the dry brushed bits.

Can't decide whether I should keep it or not.  If I do, I will need to varnish it  (Just wondering whether it might be a bit young for me?)

See you tomorrow,
