Clay Pendants

Just time for a quick craft tonight, I've been getting myself lost in Blogspace looking at all the wonderful inspiration and creations out there!  There really is some fabulous stuff.

I decided to use a product I bought from a charity (thrift) shop a while ago for the grand price of 30p, in combination with some air drying clay.  This 'coaster' made a great impression on the clay.

I made these two shapes that lend themselves to being pendants or keyrings:
I think I may have to have another go, the clay I was using was a bit crumbly so they wouldn't come out of the moulds easily.  I may have to treat myself to some more.

When I do get them looking right, I think painting them in two colours will bring out the raised flourishes perfectly.

I've been reading Roald Dahl's autobiography recently, the first one called 'Boy', goodness me it's scary, no wonder the stories he wrote were like they are. Enough to give anyone nightmares!

On a cheerier note, my family and I went to see the cartoon adventure, 'Despicable Me' today, in 3-d, at the cinema. I loved it - possibly more than my  two three (counting husband) boys did!

Thank you for looking and for any comments,

How are you feeling today? (And Shopping!)

What kind of mood are you in today?  Had a good day so far?  Today for my craft I've been mounting some animal pictures I got from photography magazines a long time ago.

I just love the personalities the animals show in these photos:
Feeling a bit sorry for himself?
What a grump!
.
Awww! Insecure.
Oh, that is SO funny!

Ahhh! It MUST BE time for a lie down now!

I haven't stuck them down yet, I'm thinking some of them would look better with a white border.

And here is the whole collection:
Which one are you?

On to shopping and I haven't had a shopping post for ages so I'm well overdue!

Today I got the following:
Papermania craft items including Hot Foil stuff, which is their latest thing, apparently.  I went into my usual Docrafts supplier today and I was invited into their store room  :-O  to see the goodies they haven't put out yet!  Their new Christmas range and Summer goodies are coming out together!  10% off it was, but that's not just for me, I think its a nationwide thing.

In the middle, we have a BIG ceramic 'Pixie Lodge' door and windows for sticking onto a tree or somewhere outside.  This will be to make a fantasy area in the garden. I hadn't heard of these until I saw K's blog entry this morning.  What a lovely idea for young children.
This lot costs me £4 from a charity shop... and no, the door doesn't really open. I love the old wood effect though.

Thanks for reading,

Bootcamp Day 10 and Birthday Card

The other day when I was doing this Creative Bootcamp project, I said I 'don't do ornaments' and only thought I had the one, the paperweight I showed you.  Well today, I was up in the attic and found this model I made about 15 years ago out of air drying clay:

It's perfect for today's Creative Bootcamp theme, 'Full-bodied':

Painted with good old poster paint and glossy varnish!

When I was up in the attic, I couldn't resist doing some more sorting and tidying and so it only left a little time for crafting tonight.  But before I go on, if you are one of my bestest mates who I go for a coffee with on Thursday mornings, then no peaking! I'm working on your birthday card (y'know who you are!):

The photo hasn't shown it very well but both the cup and the dark brown background have been swirl embossed using a Cuttlebug.  The idea came from the new range of Kanban Coffee papers.

When it is this friend's birthday at the end of the month, a big group of us are going camping for the weekend , we go every year, and its always great fun!

See you tomorrow,
